About The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technology Security Analyst to join our Information Technology team.

Working directly with the Head of Technology, Managed Service partners and internal delivery teams, the main focus of the role will be to ensure that Nisbets continues to develop and maintain suitable platforms and processes for effective cyber security management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Threat Management: Ensures Nisbets has the appropriate level of threat prevention in place and is actively scanning and responding to any threats. Manages the day to day operations provided by security managed service providers to ensure attacks, intrusions and unusual activity is detected and investigated.

  • Access Control: Advises on access controls and associated best practice, investigating unauthorised access, regularly reviewing physical access controls and advising on resolution and remediation where such physical access may impact the cyber security and compliance of the organisation.

  • Cyber Defence Delivery and Maintenance: Installs/Upgrades required security measures, appliances and software. Acts as the security and compliance subject matter expert to ensure new technology proposals meet minimum defined security and compliance requirements and takes the lead in testing and evaluating new technology implementations to ensure they meet agreed security requirements. Schedules and oversees annual tasks, such as penetration testing/ethical hacking to ensure threat prevention standards are being maintained.

  • Policy and Process: Assists the Head of Technology in ensuring that the policy and standards for security administration are fit for purpose, current and are correctly implemented.
  • Awareness and Training: Assists with the creation and publication of security awareness and training materials.

  • Forensic Investigation: Carries out forensic investigations (e.g. access investigations, email reviews etc) as requested by the Head of Technology, HR and/or senior colleagues.

  • Compliance: Ensures cyber defences and processes meet the compliance obligations in relevant regulations e.g. PCI, GDPR.

About You

Skills and Experience:
  • Two years' experience in a cyber-security related discipline (analyst, service provider, audit etc)
  • Demonstrable understanding of cyber defence principles as laid out in ISO27001, Cyber Essentials plus or similar, ideally with experience of working in an environment that has achieved certification
  • Understanding of the cyber security risks associated with evolving technologies and ways to manage them
  • Good working knowledge of current cyber defence services, software and appliances
  • Experience of delivering cyber security solutions in support of regulatory compliance; PCI, GDPR
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and assess risks, threats, patterns and trends and the resilience to see problems through to conclusion
  • Ability to prioritise support and project workloads

Key Competencies:

  • Maintains high level of confidentiality
  • Cyber Security Qualification e.g. CISMP or similar
  • Ability to communicate effectively and politely with colleagues and partners through multiple communication methods (telephone, electronic or face to face) in a 24x7 support environment
  • Ability to work under pressure, particularly when dealing with threats and at times of high demand
  • Ability to work autonomously day to day
