About The Role

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automation Engineer to join our Facilities Management department.

You will be joining a really friendly and experienced team of two existing Engineers who have work alongside Nisbets for many years.  We recently brought them in-house and having now settled them in, we are keen to continue to grow this important team. 

The role will involve working as part of a small team ensuring the warehouse automation and conveyor systems are maintained and repaired to ensure operational continuity.  Due to the nature of our business the role is predominantly focused on warehouse machinery and equipment.  Core working hours are Monday to Friday, with early/late shift working, plus a team rota covering out of hours call-outs.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Planning and carrying out all maintenance in line with Nisbets agreed schedules/manufacturers recommendations
  • Attending and resolving all adhoc or emergency issues when required and identify root causes with view to resolve
  • The keeping of all necessary records in line with Nisbets agreed policy/manufacturers requirements
  • Ensuring that all spare parts / key parts are held in stock and the placing of timely orders is maintained
  • Conduct all necessary routine inspections for identified equipment in line with Nisbets agreed/manufacturers schedules or audit requirements
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with risk assessments
  • To actively raise any identified risks to the business
  • Undertaking improvement projects and tasks as part of the maintenance team
  • To work as a team in order to ensure appropriate cover and support is provided across operational shifts and working times
  • To adhere to H&S policies and procedures at all times
  • Calling out external specialist contractors when required, reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, issuing permits to work, and supervising and signing off their work. 
  • Managing and assigning calls on the service desk, and updating logs and tasks.
  • Supporting the Facilities team to provide cover when required for other handyman type tasks.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification (City and Guilds, Diploma, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Experience in warehouse automation and understanding of work flows
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding and maintenance skills
  • Good general IT skills (MS Excel and other office applications)
  • Ability to work well within a small team
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Coaching style
  • Drive for Results
  • A full UK driving license is required
